My hometown of Shrewsbury is absolutely teeming with charity shops, and as it's a rather affluent area, the quality of clothes is high. Doing a quick count in my head, I think there's about fourteen stores. You need a lot of stamina to complete the entire chazza shop crawl.
The first thing I stumbled upon was the blue crop top. I've been on the hunt for something with an off-the-shoulders elasticated neckline, and I noticed this style top dotted around Manchester vintage stores like Affleck's Palace and COW Vintage with a price tag of £15 plus. I got my hands on this blue embroidered crop for two little pounds. I want to pair it with big gold hoop earrings to channel some Esmeralda gypsy vibes.
You know how it is; you wait ages for an inexpensive elasticated crop to come along, and two arrive at once. The sheer fabric of the black crop makes it more suitable for evening wear, and I was drawn to the smocking detail around the waist.
My number one fashion idol in the world is, and always will be, Cher Horowitz- the undisputed style queen of 90s cult film Clueless. Whether it's on the cuffs of a cardigan, a feather boa, or the end of a pen- Cher knows how to rock fluff. I tend to buy any fluffy, furry, feathery clothes I come across in an attempt to channel some Cher, which is where the cardigan comes in. This monochrome cardi is crying out to be styled in a 90s grunge way, and I have the perfect plain white halter and jeans to finish off the look.
It's possible that my style has multiple personality disorder: one day it's scruffy grunge, the next it's more boho, and then the following day it's all pretty and preppy. These lilac tailored trousers will be perfect for a preppy day. I love the silver detail around the waistline, the crisp lines and the subtle grid pattern. The trousers are actually a size 14; I tried them on with the intention of making a few adjustments (okay, asking Mum to make a few adjustments. Sewing machines and I have never got along), but I actually like the way it sits on the hips.
Whilst on the topic of charity shops, I've got a few blog recommendations if you're hungry for more bargain beauties. A wonderful friend of mine, Laura, has recently taken up blogging again. We spent many a day scouring the chazza shops whilst at uni, and this girl knows her stuff. I'm also delighted to have stumbled upon a lovely blogger, Madelaine, who is another charity shop queen and has recently done a haul post, too.
